Post-Apocalyptic Cincinnati (Episode 1)

As I've been writing my book series Days Since... I constantly seem to be on the lookout for new ideas for post-apocalyptic fortresses around Cincinnati.  The book series is based in Cincinnati, so I try to come up with ideas that fit into the scene.  (Even though River's Edge Academy is completely fictional I like to have some real places sprinkled into my stories)  With all that being said I thought it would be fun to snap a few photos of places around Cincinnati that might be a good place to hole up and begin the rebuilding of humanity. I drive past this place on Kellogg Ave. fairly often.  As you can see, it's a beast:  a huge concrete wall that surrounds the entire building, some pretty hefty gates, and overall its a really big building.  The proximity to the river is a plus too--one less side to guard and WATER!!!  This place is really locked down, so I'm not sure what exactly is in it.  It's an old pumping station that I believe is still in operation.  I

The Book Rack

I stopped by The Book Rack today on Beechmont Ave.  I honestly have never been there before, but they have a great selection.  I picked up a book for myself and a few for the kids.  Most of their stuff is used, so there are more than likely a few hidden gems in their stacks and stacks of books.  Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get to deep into their selection because my son was beginning to get out of hand. I did present them with Days Since...  I hope that they choose to carry it on their shelves.  We are already downtown at The Booksellers on Fountain Square, so it would be cool to be in two different stores.  I should hear back soon from them.

Cat in the Jar!

My buddy's book Cat in the Jar  is almost live.  We are working out a few bugs, but it should be up within the week.  Come to think of it, I'm not sure if he wants to release it on Kindle.  I'll have to ask, but the print version will be out very soon.  Like I said before, I think a lot of the stories are very funny and I'm looking forward to buying my own copy.  I'll let everyone know when its ready. News on my book.  Days Since...  Thomas:  Day 704.  Not a lot of progress has been made unfortunately.  Work gets in the way of those types of things.  Things like free time.  I've gotten over 10,000 words, and I'm hoping once I get settled into my new position in July that I'll be able to pick it up a bit.
