Post-Apocalyptic Cincinnati (Episode 3)

I went with something a little different this time.  In reality I don't really think this place would work out.  This complex would hold a huge population, but there are several drawbacks to the location.  The biggest being the lack of access to water, which is almost deal breaker right away.

The structures above are renovated dormitories at the University of Cincinnati.  When I attended classes there, these were absolute dumps.  Obviously, they look much better now.  Securing a population in these towers would be fairly simple.  Secure the bottom floor and riflemen, along with booby traps, on the roof would certainly help deter attackers.

The large surface area of the roofs could help with water collection.  It would take quite a bit, but a series of barrels, gutters channeling the water down, etc. could get a good amount during a rain.  Depending on rain can be bad though and this area is several miles from the river.

The area above could be used as farm land by clearing out these trees.  While the entire area would be difficult to completely secure, there are plenty of tall buildings in the area to use as lookouts with rifleman.

Using the above picture to highlight the buildings surrounding the area.  There would be plenty of storage room and areas for expansion if more people moved in.  I'm no engineer, but I wonder if the storm water run off in the sewers could be captured someone.  There has to be a way to populate areas like this.

Above is Burnet Woods.  There is a lake in the park that is fairly big, but I just feel that if you had too many people you would deplete it too quickly.  It's something though, but hauling water back and forth would be tedious.  Another good thing about the park is that there are animals like squirrel and deer there at times, but once again, with a large group of people this probably wouldn't last.

In conclusion, this would not be a good place to settle in my opinion.  Anyone think otherwise?

A Few Scenes from Days Since... Thomas: Day 758

I've been meaning to do this for a while, but never got around to it. Until today... These are a few pictures of some of the key scenes from the first book in my post-apocalyptic Almawt Virus series - Days Since... Thomas: Day 758. While these places do exist, they have been manipulated to fit in with the story. So not everything is exact, but these should give you an idea of what they look like in general. The pictures of the neighborhood are Lower Price Hill (LPH Fortress). The others are from the Queensgate Railyard and the gazebo in Burnet Woods.

Draft is finished for Days Since... Battle for River's Edge: Day 995

Hey! Hey! I'm very excited to announce that the first draft for the fourth installment in the Almawt Virus series is finished. It took me just over 3 months to complete it, and I'm hoping, HOPING, that it won't take me nearly as long to clean it up. So... in celebration, here is the cover reveal for the newest book Days Since... Battle for River's Edge: Day 995

Welcome to the Blog!

I'd like to welcome everyone who has made their way to the page.  It has been a busy week with the release of my new novel.  Days Since... Xavier: Day 853.  We cracked the top 100 post-apocalyptic new releases for a moment, which was very exciting for me.  I would like to stay on the list and gradually move over to the best sellers, but we will see... Thank you so much to everyone who has purchased a book so far.  Please, please, please leave a review.  This is the only way I can progress as a writer.  I enjoy hearing feedback.  The beta readers that went through Days Since... did a great job and pointed out several things that were worth noting.  Please let me know what you think. Currently, I'm working on another story that exists in the world of Days Since..., but with a few different characters.  Towards the end you will see the overlap between this story and the one that was published earlier this week. Also, Brendon Rock ...
